London – or: there and back again
We’re (that would be Alex and me) are on the way back to the airport. 5 days of London expirience are over.
Somehow all the places here have familiar names. Circle line from Victoria to Liverpool St. sounds awefully familiar. And somehow I always feel quite at home here. I don’t know why, I mean I’ve only been here twice before.
But it was Alex’s first time here.
In those 5 days, we saw a load of the city. No Dr. Mesch style 30km walks tho(ugh, for Alex). We even got to see the London Marathon, which would count as 1.4 times Dr. Mesch. And stood up for finishers (giving them our tube seats, that is).
Do I need to talk a lot about the sights? We did our usual thing, not paying much for sights, rather for shopping, food and stuff. The weather was what Alex would call londonesque. Rainy and sunny in 10 minutes shifts. We didn’t get to see Buckingham, nor the Tower nor Mme Tussaud’s. At least not from the inside. But we got to see the Changing of the Guards, where the band was playing the Star Wars main theme. Does anybody know why?
Other places we saw: Camden, Notting Hill, Peter Pan, the Golden Hind, the City, Trafalgar Square, some Parks, the Globe and lot in between. We got awesome Korean food, for only quadrouble the Korean price. And we used the “I know tkts” skill to get half price tickets to see the Lords of the Rings musical. It was a really awesome musical, capturing the mood of the book way better than the movie. But still, the elves have dumb ears. And dance funny (it was a musical afterall).
The Hotel we stayed in was decent enough for the price we paid. Basicly value-for-money.
I’ll give you guys another article shortly, about the strangeness of that coumtry and the ubiquiose surveilans you see around London these days.
